Workforce Diversity

Our people fuel 3M innovation. When our teams come together, we innovate and solve unique needs and challenges.

We implement thoughtful talent practices that attract, develop and empower our global workforce with diverse backgrounds and perspectives to benefit the communities and customers we serve.

In 2024, our workforce changed significantly due to the spinoff of our health care business. As we assess and realign our aspirations for our workforce, we remain committed to offering a workplace where everyone feels welcomed, included and valued.


Promoting Inclusion

At 3M, we believe that bringing together leaders from multiple perspectives, backgrounds, and identities sparks even greater innovation.

We support our employees seeking to advance diversity and inclusion on an individual basis by offering voluntary REAL (Reflect, Empathize, Act, Learn) Allyship training and education. 3Mers from around the world, at all levels and functions, may choose to engage in large learning workshops and thoughtful small group discussions. Together and independently through self-reflection and online micro-learning, participants may explore the many different aspects and skills needed to advance diversity and inclusion in today’s work environment.


Employee Resource Networks

3M is committed to cultivating leadership and inclusivity on our teams through our Employee Resource Networks (ERNs). Open to all employees, our ERNs are voluntary, employee-led groups that:

  • Represent unique cultures, backgrounds and experiences
  • Embody inclusion and belonging and provide rich engagement, development and community service experiences for our 3Mers

Our ERNs, many of which have a global presence, are:
